Top 10 Easter Treats for Kids

With Easter weekend coming up, this is the time to stock up with Easter treats for the children. Here are our recommendations for the perfect chocolate creations to put a happy smile on kids’ faces this Easter.

From the good people at Divine, the Fairtrade chocolate company co-owned by cocoa farmers through the Kuapo Kooko chocolate co-operative in Ghana, comes a humorously packaged Easter treat. Divine have teamed up with the talented creative animators Aardman, to bring us (drum roll) the Shaun the Sheep Easter egg! Made from Fairtrade milk chocolate, the 55g egg is endearingly topped with a Shaun the Sheep headband, featuring his woolly topknot and soft black ears.  Ewe must get one for any Shaun fan! Also from Divine, come little, gold foil-wrapped Mini Eggs (available in both milk and dark chocolate),an  essential for any Easter egg hunt.

Zotter chocolate bars simply bounce with creative energy, from their funky, colourful packaging to the imaginative flavour combinations.  Choose from an array of Easter-themed bars,  flavoured with everything from nuts to honey. The strawberry-flavoured Easter Bunnies Everywhere bar,  combining strawberry jelly, strawberry ganache and pieces of strawberry is berry nice indeed!

Yorkshire-based Betty’s° , founded in 1919, are an institution for good reason. They  can always be relied on to come up with endearing Easter treats which both look and taste great.  Among their new Easter egg offerings  this year is a very beguiling White Chocolate Rabbit egg,  made from creamy white chocolate, hand-stippled with milk chocolate and decorated with a white chocolate Easter rabbit, sitting upright among flowers.  A less traditional creation, but also very appealing, is their happily smiling Gloucester Old Spot Pig, (below) made from milk chocolate, decorated with white chocolate spots – an Easter treat with provenance!

Hotel Chocolat have had a lot of fun with their Easter collection this year, as witnessed by Egg On My Face, a slab of milk chocolate with white chocolate egg-shaped eyes and a smile. There is also the Caramel Egg Sandwich, two slices of caramel chocolate pressed between caramel half eggs,  packaged in a classic sandwich takeaway box.  For those little children charmed by miniature things,  Nibble & Peck, a pretty collection of 15 individually wrapped milk chocolate Easter figures, including rabbits and chicks, is perfect.

rococo-dahlFans of Roald Dahl’s wonderful children books are in for a treat. Excitingly, Rococo have teamed up with the Dahl family to collaborate on chocolate products. This Easter sees the first fruits – or should that be eggs? - of this creative collaboration. The Enormous Crocodile Egg, strikingly wrapped in green foil, contains six very lively, baby green milk chocolate crocodiles, keen to get out. The same story is the inspiration for Roly-Poly Bird Chocolate Egg. In Dahl’s tale, the bird can’t decide whether she prefers strawberries or raspberries. Rococo’s creation, therefore, satisfyingly offers both! One half of the egg is made from milk chocolate with strawberries, and the other half white chocolate with raspberries and popping candy, while inside, as a finishing touch, are mini milk chocolate eggs, covered in colourful foil wrapping. As befits the beloved children’s author, the eggs are at once great fun and also thoroughly scrumptious!
